Grass 2, Parker 0
I missed the last quarter of my workout today since it was in the grass (core work). Parker REFUSED to sit on the yoga mat, as it was on the grass. He stopped crying the instant we would walk onto the path.
Since it was hot, I got out the little pool we bought him. He is obsessed with water: bath, washing hands after a meal, the dogs' bowls...So I thought I would need to drag him out of the pool.

Geist Mini Marathon followed by Wine
I ran a second mini marathon today, I had run this course last year and did improve my time...however I was not at all impressed by my time. The course circles the Geist reservoir, that is close to our home, so I feel compelled to participate. So a list of excuses follows: it was humid, I worked until 1:00am, there were so many hills on the course, etc. Jim and Parker came to watch and right before I crossed the finish line, Parker fell asleep. After the race we attended a KD Alumni event at Easley Winery downtown. Since it was our anniversary (6 years!), I let Parker celebrate with some sparkling grape juice (diluted) in his cup. We shared some bottles out on the patio, where there was a band. Parker was so darling clapping along to Bob Marley. I am in the process of planning our trip to Jamaica, so he will be ready!
We celebrated our anniversary at an Asian fusion restaurant, complete with a pear martini (my favorite). Parker ate his sushi and people watched until the end of the meal when he repeatedly banged the table yelling "BA and DA" I am starting to understand why people with young children go to casual dining restaurants...
I am working a PRN shift tomorrow so the boys are on their own! Busy week ahead that involves Parker going to the dentist and a trip back to the lake.

Lakehouse Rookie
Parker made his first trip to the lake this weekend. On Saturday, he had been fever free for two days (which ended up being Roseola, he got another rash) but was about 75% himself. Jim let him stay up to see the fire, they told me he loved it. I was in bed, while it was still light out (9:00pm) since I was so tired from working late on Friday. Sunday brought the insanely happy little guy back! We knew he was feeling better when he lunged for Uncle Steve!
We were celebrating Aunt Nicole's birthday and I never got a picture of the birthday girl! Parker loved her cake!

American Germs
First strep, now Parker has acquired some virus that caused him to have a fever of 104.6! As I drove him to the doctor on Tuesday I remembered my Mom telling me that I had seizures when my fever was that high. Since my clients at work are prone to seizures, I often see them, and it is frightening! I worked an extra shift at the hospital last night and Jim kept me updated through texts. Parker's fever was down this morning but when I picked him up from his nap he was burning up again. He is laying on the couch with blankets and a stuffed fish...and making some sad little baby noises. These past two days have been the only time I have seen him slow down since he has been home. I hope he is better by this weekend, we have big plans for the lake!

Our First Mother's Day
Last year at this time, Jim and I figured we would not yet have a referral and here we are home with our son. I did spend time thinking about his birth mom and special foster Omma, I hope they are well and at peace. In Korea, it is celebrated as parent's day. My first mother's day was great! My dear friend, Kara (who just graduated from her INTENSIVE masters program!) invited me to see Legally Blond: The Musical. So we went to brunch and had a great time at the theatre.
When I got home Jim had cleaned the house and had a dinner of tuna steaks waiting! I told him that presents were not necessary (however, I did tell him I want to go to Turks and Caicos in February and to get new furniture in the living room once our basement is complete). After dinner we took Parker outside to "play soccer", Jim wants him to learn early.
A special Happy Mother's Day to my friend Carly, she is going to be a Mom to a new little boy this Friday! Cannot wait to come visit!

Weekend Update
We are fortunate to live in an area that is large enough to have an organization for Korean Adoptees. The group is called Korean Focus Indiana and we attended our first event this weekend, a picnic at Eagle Creek park. There were quite a few families there, some who had just gotten referrals and some with teenagers. I think Parker was the newest addition to the group, he did great and even posed for a picture with the other children. (One of the little girls, whose family we met as we began the adoption process, held his hand to keep him in place.) Out of respect for the other families' privacy I will not post any pictures. In addition to the typical burgers, a couple from the local Korean church came to cook some bulgogi, how wonderful! I don't eat meat but Jim went back for seconds!
Parker was decent at mass, he will yell out "bababa" at quiet moments...not sure what that means. He went for his third haircut, he sat by himself-sans sucker! He looks so handsome. We told him we would go see the baby animals at Conner Prairie and since it was rainy, we were the only ones in the barn. A baby goat ran up to greet him and attempted to eat the bugaboo! Parker's eyes were huge and he lunged at the goat. He was so excited to see the cows, pigs, and lambs. I am sure he thought they were all dogs.
Today we tried a Kindermusik class, he seemed shy, but loved shaking the little eggs to the beat. At the end of the class he just lay on the ground and looked up at me like enough already. I attempted to run in some sort of monsoon today...5 days.
I need a mantra, past have included-pain is temporary, pride is forever-bragging rights for life (full marathon)-I'm thinking this year needs to revolve around ice cream :)
